When you start shopping for an engagement ring you will hear a lot of claims. That some stones are rarer. That some hold their value better. That one type is somehow more real than another.

Here is what is worth knowing. Lab grown diamonds are chemically, optically and physically identical to mined diamonds, and they cost considerably less.

They Are Real Diamonds

A lab grown diamond is carbon arranged in exactly the same crystal structure as a mined diamond. The same hardness, the same refractive index, the same fire. A diamond tester reads it as a diamond because that is what it is.

The only difference is origin. One formed deep underground over billions of years. The other was grown in controlled conditions over a matter of weeks.

The Cost Difference Is Substantial

A lab grown diamond typically costs a fraction of a mined stone of comparable carat, colour, clarity and cut. In practice that means you can choose a larger stone, a better cut grade, or a more considered setting for the same budget.

Certification Still Matters

Every stone we supply is independently certified by IGI or DIA. Certification is what tells you precisely what you are buying: the carat weight, the colour grade, the clarity grade and the quality of the cut. Never buy an uncertified stone, lab grown or mined.

What This Means for Your Ring

Choosing lab grown is not a compromise. It is a decision to put your budget into the things you will actually see on the hand: size, cut quality and a setting you love.

Come and see the difference in person. Our Rivonia office is open by appointment, Monday to Friday.
