Solitaire
A single stone, usually on a clean band. All the attention is on the diamond.
In its favour. Timeless, uncluttered and elegant. Generally less expensive because you are buying one stone. Easier to pair with a wedding band later.
Worth considering. There is nowhere to hide, so the quality of the centre stone has to carry the ring.
Halo
A ring of small diamonds surrounds the centre stone.
In its favour. Makes the centre stone read visibly larger. Adds a great deal of sparkle. A smaller centre stone can look substantial in a halo.
Worth considering. More expensive, since you are buying more diamonds. Small stones need proper setting and occasional checking.
Hidden Halo
The halo sits under the centre stone, visible only from the side.
In its favour. Reads as a solitaire from above with a detail that rewards a closer look. Currently one of the most requested styles we make.
Worth considering. The detail is largely unseen when the ring is being worn.
How to Decide
Larger stone and a classic taste, go solitaire. Maximum presence for the budget, go halo. Something quieter with a detail that is yours alone, go hidden halo.
